During the last decade we have seen an increase in the number of wax ranges and different types of waxes, yet the training syllabus still only accommodates Cold and Traditional waxes. Then you enter the workplace and are bombarded with all these different types of waxes and brands.
To know which wax are best for your client’s skin type, hair type and which will provide the best results it is essential to know the following-
What are depilatory waxes made of?
Synthetic Wax - Synthetic wax raw material, Hydrogenated Polycyclopentadiene
Natural Pine Resin – Natural wax raw material, Glyceryl Rosinate
Peg 3+ Pine Resin – Combined wax raw material, Peg-3+ Glyceryl Rosinate
TYPES OF WAX
Traditional Hot Wax
- Apply wax in hair growth direction and remove against
- +55° to 75°
- Application Thickness – 2 to 3mm
- Number of Applications – 4 to 8
- Hardening time – 3 to 4 seconds
- Usage per underarm – 4g
- Not pliable and does not follow curves of body, therefor does not grip all hair
- Small Areas, Face, Underarm, Bikini
Film Wax
Hot Film Wax is the new generation of hot waxes with special elastic components called Ethylene Copolymer which provide the following properties-
- Elasticity - easily stretch onto the skin and will never break or brittle.
- Soft - adheres well with the hair ensuring successful hair removal.
- Application Thickness – 1mm
- Number of Applications – 1 to 3
- Hardening time – 4 to 12 seconds. Thanks to a long-lasting thermal exposure, “steams” the skin, which open the pores and makes the process less painful and captures even the shortest and coarsest hair.
- Usage per underarm – 2.5g
- Due to high elasticity wax fit into curves of body and ensure removal of all hair, even the shortest and finest hair.
